Relaxing, Anxiety-Free Sedation Dentistry
Whether you suffer from dental anxiety or you want to complete major dental work in one visit while you rest comfortably, nitrous oxide and oral conscious sedation can help ensure a pleasant dental experience.
Oral Conscious Sedation
Oral conscious sedation is as easy as taking an aspirin, and you will feel relaxed and at ease. Oral conscious sedation does not “knock you out” like some forms of anesthesia. You will remain awake during your procedure, but you will be in a heightened state of relaxation and feel no pain. You may not even remember all or part of your procedure. Oral conscious sedation is extremely safe and easy and much less costly than other forms of sedation. It also makes long or complex procedures and tooth extraction seem shorter, allowing you to complete all of your work in a single visit. Plan to have someone drive you to and from the office for your safety. Don’t wait any longer to have necessary dental work performed because you are nervous. Ask Dr. Rivet about oral conscious sedation to see if it is right for you.
Nitrous Oxide
Nitrous oxide, known to many as laughing gas, is the most commonly used form of sedation dentistry. You basically inhale the nitrous gas while being carefully monitored by Dr. Rivet. You will fall into a euphoric state and feel completely relaxed. All feelings of fear and anxiety fade away, leaving you to sit back peacefully while Dr. Rivet performs your dental procedure. In most cases, we can complete all of your dental work in one visit while you are sedated. Nitrous oxide sedation is very safe and effective. Once the procedure is over, the nitrous oxide will wear off quickly, and you will probably be able to drive yourself home and return to your daily activities. You will need a preliminary visit to make sure that nitrous sedation is right for you. If you have been worried about your next dental visit, it’s time to ask about sedation dentistry and schedule your anxiety-free appointment today.
